How long did it take for you to receive your MCO and Bill of Sale Are there any mechanics in your area that can and would work on the scooter if you needed one.I ordered directly from John over the phone and had my scooter delivered just six days later.
The carrier was a couple hours late, but thankfully nothing had been damaged in transit, just a couple of forklift marks on the box, but zero signs of any contact with the forks on the cage and definitely not a scratch on the scoot. That took a good hour to get it all out of there with some minor help in holding the scoot steady as the frame was removed. ![]() Tires were at around 12lbs of pressure each, so both were pumped up to recommended pressures. The Duro tires seem of decent quality for Chinese tires- I suppose time will tell on that. Getting the trunk open was an issue, and seems to befuddle most new Linhai owners. ![]() I suppose sitting two years in a crate locked in position may make them a bit stubborn at first. Under the seat, all the parts necessary to finish the assembly of the scooter were there, except for the six screws that hold the windshield in place, which I dug through my hardware filing cabinet to find seemingly suitable replacements for. I filled the gas tank with Premium unleaded, checked the oil level, which was in normal parameters, and added some Marvel Mystery Oil to both the crankcase and gas tank before trying to start her up for the first time since the factory. It took seven or eight cranks on the starter, but she fired up fine and dandy, though seeming a bit stiff. As of yet I havent gotten the coolant drained, but I have the coolant and distilled water sitting at the ready. Ive only had her around the block, but the fan kicks on at about the 34 mark on the temp gauge, and the thermostat seems to open right on cue. More info will be added when I see the condition of the coolant. One point of note about the radiator cap access on the 260 compared to the Linhai Aeolus 300- You dont have to remove a bunch of the glove box to get to it Its a simple matter of popping off a plastic cover, and oila An oil change will follow the coolant flush and change. General Impressions: The fit and finish is generally pretty good on the 260. I find the Aeolus 260 stickers cheap looking, and they are really just clear stickers with silver script on them, not decals. The grips are thin and look really cheap- but easily replaced. My brother had a look at it the first week I got it and he was impressed, he had owned a Honda scooter back in the early eighties. He asked how much and where I had gotten it, and commented on how nice the blue paint looked. Ill keep adding to this post as I can get the time, hopefully with more actual road experiences. All in all if you are in the market for a good 250cc class scooter, give the Linhai Aeolus 260 a thorough look. Get those fluids changed, put some miles on it and let us know what you think.
